The park's "Rail Trail" is the perfect place to observe the colorful array of kayaks, canoes and rafts (literally hundreds of them if the weather is agreeable). There is about three miles of trail along the river from the park entrance to the base of the dam where the water comes spilling out. Many spectators clamor to watch from the observation deck (about 1/2 mile up the trail) just below the "dumplings" - it is a very challenging area in the river for even the most experienced! Ready for the 9th Annual Vermont State Zucchini Festival

When the Okemo Valley Chamber dreamed up this unique event nine years ago no one dreamed it would grow to the extent it has. Visitor and locals alike love the fun activities surrounding this event. The Zucchini Festival was voted one of the top ten summer events in Vermont for 2005.

Plenty of Zucchini Fun

"Zucchini Fest - 9th Annual event will take place on August 20 & 21"

Originally developed as an excuse to have fun with this most maligned vegetable, the festival has grown and matured over the years and now is a top ten Vermont summer event as well as the signature summer event for Ludlow. The Festival motto is "You need to be here, cause you need to have fun!!"
