Dates: April 23 - 24

The West River rages and Jamaica State Park is the hub of activity. The campground is reserved months in advance by folks who have been making this "river run" for 30+/- years! The river has locations appropriate for all levels of expertise. The stretch of river between the dam and the park entrance range between Class II, III, and even some IV "Whitewater." The park's "Rail Trail" is the perfect place to observe the colorful array of kayaks, canoes and rafts (literally hundreds of them if the weather is agreeable). There is about three miles of trail along the river from the park entrance to the base of the dam where the water comes spilling out. Many spectators clamor to watch from the observation deck (about 1/2 mile up the trail) just below the "dumplings" - it is a very challenging area in the river for even the most experienced! Bring your boat or just come to enjoy the activity and vendors!
