WESTON

WESTON Vital Statistics

22,760 Acres of land

35.56 square miles

630+ population (as compared to over 1,000 in the mid 1800's)

The town of Weston, incorporated in 1799, was originally part of Andover but the ridge created by Markham and Terrible Mountains made it impossible to get from one side of town to the other. The town's name was derived from its location as the west town of Andover.

Weston is a village virtually untouched by time. This picturesque town, complete with its fenced town green and octagonal bandstand, is listed on
the National Register of Historic Places. The quintessential village is home to a number a quaint shops, including the famous Vermont Country
Store.

The 18th century Farrar-Mansur House, the Old Mill and the Crafts Building are all located in the Millyard. Each is filled with authentic and rare examples of the everyday items used in the 18th and 19th century. There are two churches, the Old Parish Church which serves the community year round, and the Church on the Hill with services and
afternoon concerts during July and August.

The Weston Playhouse Theatre Company is Vermont's oldest professional theatre company, presenting Broadway's favorite plays and musicals from mid June until September in a beautiful white-columned theatre on the village green.

Just three miles north of the village is the famous Weston Priory, a Benedictine monastery. The Brothers, well known for their beautiful music, welcome the public to daily prayer.
